Fort Polk, LA
The Upper Iowa Center at Fort Polk, LA, offers classes on post to both military personnel and civilians in the area. It was opened in 1995 and offers bachelor’s of science degree in nine majors. Courses can also be blended with UIU distance learning programs (online and independent study) to complete 11 other majors. Certificate programs are also available. UIU offers courses on post during five eight-week terms during the academic year. All courses are offered during the evenings and on weekends. Upper Iowa has been recognized by Military Advanced Education and by GI Jobs as one of the nation’s top military-friendly universities. Watch the Bulletin Board on this page for local postings.

- Public Administration (with optional certification in Law Enforcement)
- Social Science
Certificate programs are available in Marketing on post. Students can also combine distance learning courses to earn certificates in Human Resources Management, Organizational Communications, and Organizational Leadership.
Although the schedule may be subject to change, currently the 2011-12 academic year includes the following terms:
- Term 1 (August 29 - October 23, 2011)
- Term 2 (October 24 - December 18, 2011)
- Term 3 (January 9 – March 4, 2012)
- Term 4 (March 5 - May 6, 2012)
- Term 5 (May 7 - July 1, 2012)
- Term 6 (July 2 - August 26, 2012)
Please see the Current Class Schedule. The class schedule is relatively flexible to meet student needs. Classes normally meet twice a week, Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday in the evenings. Some meet on Saturdays during the day.
