University locks down for 90 minutes

Upper Iowa University was locked down for nearly 90 minutes today after an employee reported a sound resembling a gunshot. The decision to lockdown was made by local law enforcement officials, who later determined that the sound was created by a firecracker.

UIU reports university-wide enrollment up by 5.6 percent

FAYETTE, Iowa (October 3, 2008) -- Total fall enrollment for all delivery modalities at Upper Iowa University is up 5.6 percent. Upper Iowa has 5,937 students at its residential campus, 15 center locations, international, online and independent study programs. The institution's fall 2007 enrollment was 5,618.
