UIU Celebrates Black History Month!

Upper Iowa University is proud of 23% diversity among its student population, and proud to dedicate this page to 2012 Black History month.
Since the purpose of Black History month (according to the Law Library of Congress) is to celebrate and deepen our understanding of the contributions that African Americans have made to American history in their struggles for freedom and equality, we hope you will take advantage of the many planned activities and educational resources we have provided on this page.
By the way, did you know February was chosen as Black History month, because many famous African-Americans were born in February: Eubie Blake, Frederick Douglass, W.E.B. Du Bois, Langston Hughes, and Rosa Parks? February was also the month the NAACP (1909) was started.
