Through the generous donations of Extended University alumni and UIU employees, 20 scholarships will be rewarded to Extended University students. This includes students at our center locations and Center for Distance Education (formerly External Degree and Online Program). 

AWARD CRITERIA:

• Scholarships will be awarded to students earning the highest points based on:
  • Current GPA at UIU
  • Number of semester credits completed at UIU
  • Submission of a one-page, typed essay written on the topic: "How Upper Iowa University has helped me reach my personal goals"
  • Students graduating prior to Term 4 (March, 2009) need not apply.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., January 23, 2009 for consideration. Late applications will not be considered.

EVALUATION OF APPLICATION & ESSAY:

The essay will be evaluated by two members of the Extended University Scholarship Committee on the basis of clarity, originality, grammar and punctuation.

AWARD DATE:

• Scholarships will be awarded on February 20, 2009.
• Funds reflected in the vouchers will be credited to the student's account at Upper Iowa University.
• Funds will be available for use in any one of the following terms: Term 4, Term 5 or Term 6.
• The scholarship can be awarded only once per student.
• The scholarship is not transferable.
• The scholarship is considered a factor when determining financial aid eligibility.
