11/18/08 - Women's BasketballPeacocks Use Second Half Run to Pull Away from Warriors The Upper Iowa women's basketball team welcomed the warriors of Waldorf College to dorm gym for their second home game of the season. The Peacocks raced out to an eleven point lead after four minutes but Waldorf rallied to close the gap over the next five. As time wound down in the first half Upper Iowa began to pull away and led 44-32 at halftime. Waldorf cut the deficit to three points, 56-53, midway through the second half, but the home team outscored their guests 27-15 over the final twelve minutes of action. The 83-68 victory for UIU was their first of the season and evens their record at 1-1. Waldorf drops to 1-6 on the season with the loss. (MORE)

11/18/08 - Women's VolleyballUIU Volleyball Opens 2009 Recruiting Class with Iowa Prep Upper Iowa Head Volleyball Coach Shari Robertson announced that Maryn Fulton, from Fairfield, Iowa, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and volleyball careers at Upper Iowa University. Maryn Fulton, a 6'1 Middle Blocker, led Fairfield High School to a 34-6 record this past season. She averaged 4.26 kills per game, which ranks #3 in the state for Class 3A. Maryn was selected all-conference, all-district, and 2nd team all-state her junior year. She was also just named Southeast Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row. With Fulton leading the way, Fairfield advanced to the Class 3A state tournament this past week in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. (MORE)
