11/18/08 - Women's VolleyballUIU Volleyball Opens 2009 Recruiting Class with Iowa Prep Upper Iowa Head Volleyball Coach Shari Robertson announced that Maryn Fulton, from Fairfield, Iowa, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and volleyball careers at Upper Iowa University. Maryn Fulton, a 6'1 Middle Blocker, led Fairfield High School to a 34-6 record this past season. She averaged 4.26 kills per game, which ranks #3 in the state for Class 3A. Maryn was selected all-conference, all-district, and 2nd team all-state her junior year. She was also just named Southeast Conference Player of the Year for the second year in a row. With Fulton leading the way, Fairfield advanced to the Class 3A state tournament this past week in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. (MORE)
11/18/08 - Men's BasketballPeacock Basketball Signs Northeast Iowa Prep Upper Iowa University Head Men's Basketball Coach Brian Dolan announced today that Kurt Bearinger, from Oelwein, Iowa, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and basketball career at Upper Iowa. Bearinger, a 6-7 forward, plays basketball for nearby Oelwein High School. He averaged 7.4 points and 5.9 rebounds as a junior, leading Oelwein to an 11-10 record last season. Kurt was a member of the Elite Sports and Martin Brothers AAU basketball clubs the last two summers. He plans to major in Graphic Design at Upper Iowa. (MORE)
11/15/08 - Men's BasketballUpper Iowa Loses Season Opener at #18 Drury The Peacocks men's basketball team opened its season on the road in Springfield, Missouri. Upper Iowa took the court against the Panthers of Drury University, who entered the season as the #18 team in the NABC Top 25 Poll. Drury shot 54.8% from the field in the first half, but Upper Iowa also shot the ball well (51.9%) to keep pace with their hosts. The difference in the first half might have come in the opening five minutes when the Panthers built a 14-7 lead. The teams played fairly even for the remainder of the half and headed to the locker rooms with Drury leading 40-33. (MORE)
