The AVP is responsible for operational reviews of administrative departments and function, assisting the Controller with financial reporting, risk management, and supervision of Mail Services, Print Services, Pavo Blue, and the Bookstore. The position reports to the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial and Planning Officer (EVP) and will need to work closely with UIU's President's Cabinet Members and others members of the UIU community to effect operational improvements at UIU. The position will also assist the EVP with Board liaison duties and be responsible for all divisional activities in the event of a prolonged absence of the EVP.
Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong business and management background, and specific operational review, financial reporting, and enterprise resource planning system experience. Prior higher education experience is preferred. A CPA, MBA, or relevant graduate degree is required. The Director of Student Activities is responsible for planning, coordinating and scheduling all campus student activities, program, and leadership development. Upper Iowa University, Fayette Campus, Facilities Management and Services Department have a full-time Day Porter position opening in the Housekeeping Department.
A day porter is required to clean and maintain public areas in a building or complex for a clean, safe and pleasing environment. Responsibilities include vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning up spills, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms and assisting event preparation: set-up and tear down. Individuals must have keen eye for detail and are able to work well in a team and individual environment. Qualifications include: experience in related fields, being self-motivated, and ability to relate well with students, faculty and staff.
This position will be scheduled from noon to 8:30 p.m. with two week days off. Weekends are required.

Assistant Professor of Geosciences (posted 4-26-12)
Upper Iowa University, Fayette Campus, is seeking a geoscientist or geographer with GIS expertise and a deep interest in student-centered teaching at the undergraduate level who will contribute to an environment in which diversity is respected, encouraged and nurtured.
This new faculty line will complement existing faculty strengths, have broad interests beyond the area of specialization, and contribute to our field-oriented integrative geosciences curriculum. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching in the field, classroom and laboratory, as well as the flexibility and desire to teach a wide range of courses serving the general education program, teacher endorsements, the minor in Earth Science, and the Environmental Science B.S. degree. Courses may include introductory geology, geography, conservation of natural resources, and/or environmental science; and GIS/remote sensing, geomorphology, soils, and/or global climate change at the upper division. We seek an individual who will find opportunities to take advantage of the natural outdoor laboratory of scenic northeast Iowa, the Upper Midwest region, and potentially UIU's global footprint to engage students in action-learning pedagogies, service learning, and problem-driven community-based research.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in geoscience, geography, or related field is required. Applied skills and facility with geospatial technologies/GIS are also required.
The Assistant Professor of Geosciences position will teach a full course load (22-24 credits/yr); advise and mentor students; supervise student research projects; and provide leadership and service to the university, community, and profession. Upper Iowa University invites applications for a biologist specializing in immunology or developmental biology at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biology in the Division of Science and Mathematics, available starting in Fall 2012. This is a nine month, tenure-track position. The teaching load is 24 credits per year for course loads containing laboratories (typically six courses). The successful candidate would teach a non-majors course in biology and Principles of Biology I, the first course in the freshman biology sequence, which introduces students to biochemistry, cell biology and genetics. The candidate would also be expected to teach or develop upper-level biology courses within the candidate's area of expertise.
A PhD in biology or related field is required. It is expected that candidates will complement existing faculty strengths in a small department and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, as well as the flexibility and desire to teach a wide range of courses. In addition, candidates will advise students, supervise undergraduate research projects and serve on division and university committees.

The Vice President for International Programs reports directly to the President of the University and is to provide leadership and oversight of the business and daily operations of University centers at various international locations which deliver a variety of academic programs through local, on-site faculty and staff. Associate Vice President- Academic Extension

Upper Iowa University is seeking a part-time ESL Program Coordinator for its Fayette campus. The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is for international students to improve their English language skills in order to become undergraduate students at Upper Iowa. The successful applicant will plan events/field trips for the ESL students to gain valuable American culture experience, drive for these events/field trips, work closely with the student Ambassadors who serve as language partners for the students, and further establish opportunities for ESL students to preview undergraduate academics. This individual will also be available to International Programs when needed. If the employee possesses a master's degree in ESL or an equivalent degree, or is working toward a master's degree in ESL or an equivalent degree; the employee would have the opportunity to teach up to two ESL courses.
