Don Aungst

Mr. Aungst has worked with the University since 2007. Mr. Aungst is responsible for business, human resource, facilities management, financial aid, food service, campus store, information technology and general services. He also has responsibility for budget, resource allocation, investment and real estate management and oversight of all risk management functions. His real estate management includes the Fayette campus, and 17 domestic and three foreign locations. Mr. Aungst serves as Board liaison for varied committees and is Assistant Board Treasurer. Mr. Aungst is responsible for UIU Facilities Master Planning, and tracking key strategic indicators detailed in the University’s strategic plan. Mr. Aungst oversees all capital projects and programs. He has been designated by the UIU Board as interim president if the president is not able to serve due to any prolonged absence. Prior to joining UIU, Mr. Aungst served as Vice President for Resource Management and Treasurer at Capital University in Ohio. He has also served as Vice President for Finance and Treasurer at Susquehanna University. Prior to his academic posts, Mr. Aungst was an accountant at a major firm. Mr. Aungst received his B.S. from Shippensburg University. Mr. Aungst is a Certified Public Accountant.
Dr. David Chown

Dr. Chown joined UIU in March 2009 and is responsible for all academic programs and initiatives worldwide. Dr. Chown supervises the Dean of Faculty, works closely with Division chairs and directs operations of the registrar, student academic support and student service areas. He is the UIU AQIP Liaison to the Higher Learning Commission. Prior to joining UIU, Dr. Chown was Dean of the School of Business at Aberdeen State University in South Dakota and Dean of the School of Business at Reinhardt College in Georgia. Dr. Chown also has held other academic and business positions and also served in the United States Air Force. Dr. Chown received his Ph.D. in business from the University of Iowa, his Master of Arts degree in management and supervision from Central Michigan University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Central College in Pella, Iowa.
Dr. William Duffy

Dr. Duffy has served the University since March 2009. He is responsible for all staff, adjunct faculty, online offerings, off-campus centers and budget. Prior to joining UIU,
Dr. Duffy served for 12 years as the Executive Director at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he had similar responsibilities. Dr. Duffy is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army, where he had numerous leadership positions in planning, organizing, managing resources/equipment and recruiting, among other responsibilities. Dr. Duffy also has significant federal/state grant expertise. He received his B.S. from the United State Military Academy, a Masters from Appalachian State University, and Ed.D. from the University of Memphis.
Ryan Griffith

Ryan Griffith joined Upper Iowa University in August 2011. As Interim Vice President for International Programs at Upper Iowa University (UIU), Mr. Griffith provides leadership for, and oversees all, operational matters pertaining to the Office of International Programs at Upper Iowa University, including the Fayette residential campus and operations in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Mr. Griffith comes to UIU after serving four years with the University of North Carolina as a director, immigration officer, and adjunct lecturer of Political Science. A graduate of the University of Southern California and Australia's Queensland University, Mr. Griffith specialized in international relations and Asian politics. Prior to 2007, he spent nearly a decade living, working, and studying in Asia-Pacific.

David S. Miller
Director of Athletics

Mr. Miller has served as the Director of Athletics at UIU since May of 2009. As the Director of Athletics, Mr. Miller provides leadership, direction, and senior management to 12 intercollegiate programs and over 325 student-athletes who compete on the NCAA Division II level in the highly competitive Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). Previously David served as the Director of Athletics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has held leadership positions in intercollegiate athletic administration at Southern Methodist University, Ohio University, and Truman State. Mr. Miller began his career in intercollegiate athletics at the U.S. Air Force Academy while serving on active-duty. David is currently the Chair of the NSIC Administrators Committee and the Ethics and Eligibility Committee. He is currently serving on the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Regional Advisor Committee and is a member of the D2 Athletic Directors’ Association Football Task Force. He is a former Board member of the Division II Athletic Director’s Association, the College World Series of Omaha, and the Omaha Sports Commission. He received his bachelors degree in Business Administration from Regis University and his Master’s of Sports Administration from The Ohio University.
Wendell Snodgrass

Wendell Snodgrass joined the UIU staff on November 15, 2010. He comes to the University from St. Francis Health Center, Topeka, KS, where he served as executive director of the Health Center Foundation since 2006. Previously he was vice president for advancement at Central Methodist University, Fayette, MO, and director of planned/major gifts and director of annual/major giving at Benedictine College, Atchison, KS.
Snodgrass earned his executive masters degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in history both from Benedictine College. He earned an estate planning certificate from the National Planned Giving Institute at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA, and attended the Health Care Advisory Board’s Leadership Academy.
Andrew Wenthe

Mr. Wenthe has oversight over UIU's e-Center, a University department supporting initiatives that contribute to regional economic growth, enhance web-based instruction, and provide information security resources. The e-Center also supports the Heartlanding Information Technology Services Center, a faculty and student operated information technology service that provides website development and technical support to area business owners.
Wenthe is the project manager for several grants received by the University relating to community and economic development, including a three-year, $139,500 USDA Rural Community Development Initiative grant, a two-year, $99,000 USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant, and a $238,000 Congressionally-awarded appropriation through the U.S. Department of Education's Fund for Improving Post-Secondary Education. Wenthe also is the chair of the Upper Iowa Business Development (UIBD) Grant Advisory Committee. UIBD grants of up to $40,000 are awarded annually and on a competitive basis to businesses starting up, relocating or expanding in the City of Fayette.
In addition to his work at Upper Iowa, Wenthe serves as the State Representative for Iowa House District 18, which includes parts of Fayette, Bremer and Black Hawk Counties. Wenthe is the Chair of the Rural Caucus, and is a member of the Appropriations, Agriculture, State Government, Rules & Administration, and Transportation committees.
